The Hungarian writer has won the Nobel Prize in Literary Arts.

The Hungarian novelist was recognised "for his compelling and prophetic collection that, during apocalyptic dread, asserts the strength of literature."

Krasznahorkai has produced 5 novels and received many additional writing honors, including the 2015's International Booker Award, and the 2013's top rendered novel award in Fiction for his initial novel Satantango, a postmodern piece concerning the end of the world.

The writer is the second Magyar author to obtain the prize after the deceased Imre Kertesz, who received in the year 2002.

Originating in the mid-1950s, Krasznahorkai gained acclaim in 1985 when he published "Satantango", which he transformed for the big screen in 1994.

This monochrome film, by Hungarian film-maker Béla Tarr, is famous for its lengthy length.

His further novels consist of:

  • The Melancholy of Resistance (1989)
  • War & War (1999)
  • Seiobo There Below (2008)

The award body characterized the writer as "a great grand writer in the European heritage that reaches through Kafka to Bernhard Thomas, and is characterised by absurdism and bizarre excess."

His recent novel "Herscht 07769" has been called as a major modern German novel, owing to its exactness in depicting the country's communal turmoil just before the global health crisis.

It is a depiction of a current village in Thüringen, Germany, afflicted by societal chaos, killing and incendiarism.

"Kind colossus Herscht Florian is an parentless child, raised by a neo-Nazi who has mentored him as a graffiti cleaner.

"The leader, a Bach fanatic, is incensed that someone is spraying canine insignias across the monuments to the celebrated musician in their former GDR city."

A critique noted it as "thus dark from start to end."

His most recent satirical work, "Zsömle Odavan", goes back to Hungary.

The main character is elderly Uncle Kada, who has a secret right to the monarchy but has made every effort to fade away from the globe.
